But if your weekend warrior also doubles as a daily driver, these gauges can attract unwarranted attention from the authorities and criminals alike. Get this tube and use it to see how much of the hole you need to widen. Now with the autometer gauge I was lucky cause I basically just needed to shave off the clean rounded edge around the hole.
There was a lot to take off regardless. It’s just this edge gave me something to work towards so that I kept the hole round, and didn’t go too far. Step 4 I used this attachment. Attach the micron gauge directly to the vacuum pump via the 1/4″ connection and verify that the pump is capable of achieving a vacuum level of microns or less. A good quality pump will easily achieve levels or below 50 microns.
The first of which being the oil pressure and oil temperature senders. Here’s a pic of the oil filter adapter plate with the sending units installed.
