Before the system was developed, several homeowners in the town of fifty households maintained their own, private septic systems, because the city had no uniform sewer service in place. This resulted in make-shift systems being erected and sewage draining in city ditches. The ordinance required mandatory hook-up to the new city wastewater treatment system. Failure to comply with the ordinance resulted in a separate misdemeanor for every day of non-compliance. Further, the appellate court found that the mandatory hook-up ordinance applied, because the public sewer was available to the resident and the county board of health required that he hook up to it.
Thus, the mandatory hook-up ordinance applied to the resident and he was required to use the city sewer system. The court also held that the town had a reasonable basis for enacting the ordinance health and cleanliness , that enactment was a valid exercise of police power and was rationally related to a legitimate end.

Listen A fire at a large storage building in Strathcona County on Tuesday night saw fire crews bring in three fire trucks, two brush trucks and four water tankers to battle the blaze. According to Devin Capcara, a deputy fire chief with Strathcona County Emergency Services, firefighters were called to the blaze at a rural property north of the hamlet of Ardrossan at about 6 p. The RVA plan of action calls for the construction of a pedestrian footbridge to cross the river at the western trailhead and then connecting the east end of the trail to the south side of Fort Saskatchewan. The trail runs approx. This is a pet and bike friendly trail, and it winds through the trees for the first half-mile before you begin to get increased views of the river and the surrounding countryside. This is a bare bones trail with no public amenities, but the real treasure on the route is the wildlife.
You can expect to see deer, coyotes, rabbits and a wide variety of birds, ducks and geese on your walk. Halfway through the walk you may see a nesting pair of bald eagles. You pass directly beneath their nest as they keep a watchful eye on your passing. Not long after you pass the eagle’s nest, you will come to an area of the trail which is covered by deadfall, courtesy of some busy beavers. Not difficult to get through under normal conditions, but if you are on a bike or have some mobility issues, this short part of the trail could prove to be a challenge.
